Yes, you can build Biscuits bundles from products you have imported through Shopify Collective, and the Collective fulfilment process carries on as normal.
Note: Shopify Collective and its menus, settings and steps change over time and are outside our control. Always check Shopify's own documentation for the latest, and contact Shopify support for anything specific to the Collective app.
Shopify lists product bundles for the products that you import from a supplier as compatible with the Shopify Collective app. See Shopify's requirements and considerations for the Shopify Collective app.
Biscuits bundles use Shopify's native bundle technology, and at checkout the individual component products are what is actually purchased. Collective sees those components as ordinary line items and routes them to the supplier who owns them, exactly as it would for a normal order.
The customer builds the bundle on your store and adds it to the cart.
At checkout and on the final order the bundle becomes its individual component products as separate line items.
Shopify splits the order and routes each component line item to the supplier it came from.
Your supplier fulfils and ships directly to your customer, and the tracking syncs back to your store.
If a bundle mixes components from more than one supplier, each supplier receives their own order for their own items. Your customer may then receive more than one parcel for a single bundle, so it is worth saying so on the bundle page or in your shipping policy.
Collective creates the order on the supplier's store only once the order is marked as paid, a short delay has passed, and the order is not on hold. What happens next depends on your payment capture setting:
Automatic capture: the fulfilment request is sent to your supplier automatically.
Manual capture: you have to open the order and click Request fulfillment yourself.
If a test order never reaches your supplier, check this first. See Shopify's guide to managing orders in the Shopify Collective app.
This is the most common problem we see with Collective bundles, and it is almost always locations rather than stock.
Your imported Collective products are stocked at your supplier's locations. If your bundle product is only active at one location, components stocked elsewhere read as unavailable and the whole bundle shows as sold out.
To make sure your bundle is active at all locations
Open the Biscuits Bundles app and navigate to the bundle
On the bundle edit page, find the 'Locations’ card
Activate every location that your bundle's components use, then save.
If the save reverts and the product drops back to a single location, which happens on stores using legacy locations, add an SKU to the bundle product and then try saving the locations again.
Two related points worth knowing:
Inventory for imported Collective products is managed by your supplier and is read only in your admin
Component item availability is automatically presented by Shopify on the storefront when the customer is interacting with the bundle form. Availability is contextual based on the customers location and market.
For every other cause of a sold out bundle, see [Why does my bundle show as sold out?].
Products using purchase options (subscriptions, pre-orders, try before you buy). Shopify does not allow these inside any bundle. See [Using Biscuits Bundles with subscriptions and subscription apps].
A bundle inside another bundle. Shopify does not allow it.
Gift cards and digital products. The Collective app does not support them, so they cannot be Collective components.
Shopify POS in person, pickup in store, and Managed Markets. The Collective app does not support these, and POS inventory levels are not synced from your supplier's store.
Collective products can be bundle components, and Shopify supports this.
The order reaches your supplier as the individual components, split by supplier.
Your bundle discount comes out of your margin, so test one real order before launching.
If the bundle shows as sold out, check that the bundle product is active at every location its components use.
