Volume Discounts

How the Volume discounts / tiered pricing feature works

Updated over a week ago

Overview

The Volume Discounts feature in Biscuits Bundles allows you to offer discounts based on the total number of items selected in a bundle. The discount can be set as a fixed dollar amount, a percentage, or a fixed price for the entire bundle .

  • Discount types:

    • Fixed amount off: Take a set dollar amount off the bundle total.

    • Percentage off: Take a set percentage off the bundle total.

    • Fixed bundle price: Set the entire bundle to a specific price once a tier is met.

How it works

  • Tiers: You define “break points” (tiers) like “Buy 3+ items, get 10% off.” You can add up to 5 additional tiers.

  • What counts toward tiers: The total number of items selected in the bundle.

  • Which tier applies: The highest tier that the shopper qualifies for is applied automatically.

  • Live updates: As shoppers add/remove items, the discount updates in real time.

Display styles

  • You can choose how the progress appears to shoppers:

    • Thumbnails: A simple, compact style.

    • Progress bar: A visual bar that fills as shoppers approach a tier.

    • Segments: Tier “steps” displayed in segments.

  • The recommended default messages change based on the Display type and Volume discount type.

Where to set it up

  1. Create or edit a bundle inside the app.

  2. In the Bundle Pricing area, choose a Volume discounts as the Discount type.

  3. A new 'Volume discounts type' setting will appear where you can adjust the discount type applied to each tier.

    • Fixed amount off

    • Percentage off

    • Fixed bundle price

  4. Add tiers:

    • Set the minimum quantity for each tier (e.g., 1, 3, 5).

    • Enter the discount value for that tier (amount, percent, or fixed price).

  5. The bundle step rules, must allow the user to select the relevant number of products to match your volume discount tiers.
If your bundle only has one step, you'll see a helper to 'auto set up step rules' to assist with setting your bundle's step rules.

  6. Open the “Volume Discount Settings” section:

    • Choose a Display type (Thumbnails, Progress bar, or Segments).

    • Edit the Messages for customers:

      • Titles: one “Progress message” and one “Success message.”

      • Tier messages: one “Tier progress message” and one “Tier success message.”

    • Tip: Use || to add a line break inside a message (for example: “Add 1 more || to unlock 10% off”).

    • Tip: You can include placeholders like {{quantity}} or {{discountAmount}} in messages to make them dynamic.

  7. Save the bundle.

Helpful hints when setting up your volume discount messages

  • Messages are set per bundle: This ensures each bundle can have custom tiers and tailored messaging.

  • Default messages: When you change the Volume discount type or Display type, new recommended defaults appear. You can keep or edit them.

  • Reset: If needed, you can reset any field to its recommended default.

  • Keep messages short: Use one clear sentence (two lines max using ||) so shoppers immediately understand how to unlock the deal.

Examples

  • Fixed amount off:

    • Tiers:

      • 1+ items → $0 off

      • 3+ items → $10 off

  • Percentage off:

    • Tiers:

      • 2+ items → 5% off

      • 4+ items → 10% off

      • 6+ items → 15% off

    • The highest tier reached applies to the bundle total.

  • Fixed bundle price:

    • Tiers:

      • 3+ items → Bundle price is $49.00

    • Once the shopper selects 3 or more items, the bundle price becomes $49.00.
