How Biscuits Bundles products track inventory

How Inventory Works with Tracked Inventory in Biscuits Bundles

With Biscuits Bundles (using Shopify's Product Bundles feature), only the component items in a bundle are actually purchased at checkout.

Additionally, these component items appear as individual line items in the final order, each displaying their associated SKU, quantity, and other relevant details.

Inventory tracking occurs on the individual component products inside a bundle, not on the bundle product itself.

This approach ensures that the orders clearly reflect the breakdown of bundle components, aiding transparency for inventory and order management.

Biscuits Bundles products are automatically set to "not tracked" in Shopify, so you never need to worry about the inventory of the bundle product itself.

How does availability work for customers?

  • As customers select items in a bundle, the Shopify automatically shows whether each component item is in stock or out of stock, both on the bundle product page and during checkout.

  • On the final order, only the individual component items appear - no parent (bundle) product is captured.

  • If you use a 3PL (third-party logistics provider), as long as your 3PL is managing inventory for the component items correctly, the availability will reflect on the component items displayed on the bundle page in your storefront.

  • Each line item in the final order includes details such as the SKU, quantity, and any associated line item properties (if enabled).

Key Points:

Do not change the inventory settings on the bundle parent product, as this can cause it to appear out of stock.

  • All stock tracking and inventory management should be handled at the component product level.
