Bundle displaying sold out

How to troubleshoot different sold out states when the bundle product displays as out of stock

Updated this week

This help doc is to troubleshoot when a bundle displays as sold out when the page initially loads.

To troubleshoot sold out errors that appear after clicking the add to cart button, view this help doc here - https://help.biscuitsbundles.com/en/articles/9045758-error-cannot-be-added-to-cart-cannot-find-variant-product-is-already-sold-out

There are two possible scenarios for a "sold out" state, one is the correct genuine behaviour of a sold out bundle and the other is an error in the bundles configuration -normally caused by app conflicts, markets or locations based settings.

Correct Sold Out State:
A highlighted coloured error above the bundle form

If your bundle product page displays this specific error message in red: "This bundle is sold out"

This means the bundle is genuinely out of stock because required products for a step aren't available. This is expected behaviour.

To resolve this issue, you can view the reason in detail inside the theme editor.

  1. Open the theme editor

  2. Navigate to the bundle product that is showing the sold out error.

  3. The error will show additional information explaining why the bundle is sold out.

  4. Check this help doc for more information in resolving these errors - https://help.biscuitsbundles.com/en/articles/9798819-bundle-form-errors

Incorrect Sold Out State:
The add to cart button shows the sold out state

Your bundle shows as "Sold Out" on collection and search pages, and the "Add to Cart" button also displays as "Sold Out" on the product page without the red error message. This indicates there's an issue with the bundle's configuration.

The most common cause of the add to cart button showing as out of stock is usually one of these two issues:

The bundle product is incorrectly set to 'track inventory' = true

Bundle products should also be set to 'track inventory' = false as all of the inventory is managed directly on the component items, not on the bundle product itself.

This setting can be adjusted accidentally by merchants in the Bulk Editor, or by other apps.

To resolve this - Open the Bundle Product inside the Biscuits Bundles app, and you should see a warning that will advise the bundle will be corrected when saving it's settings again.

The bundle product is not available at the location that ships to the current user

Shopify always shows contextual availability to the user based on if a product is available in a location that ships to the customers Market.

Ensure all relevant locations are enabled when editing your bundle product inside the Biscuits Bundles app - See the 'Locations' card when editing the bundle product.

The stores default shipping rates have been removed from the store

Open Settings > Shipping and delivery in your Shopify admin and check if the Default shipping profile has valid shipping rates.

By default, Shopify assigns all native bundle products to the general shipping profile, and they can’t be moved to another profile. Because of this, your general shipping profile must include valid rates for all the markets and locations where you want your bundle to be available.
